The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that the two right lanes of eastbound Interstate 74 between University Street and Knoxville Avenue (Illinois 40) in Peoria will close Friday, Feb. 28. The closures are necessary to install signs related to the upcoming Murray Baker Bridge (Interstate 74) work and are expected to last from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.   Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area.  To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered.  Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
